I used to be a Malty, Carmely girl, but now I just want the

A local brewery, Olde Hickory, has teamed up with their local Hombrewing club to turn out a bitter hoppy brew that just spins my head. Death by Hops was conceived by a local retailer in Asheveille, NC. It's got bite and of course hop, and it's clean and fresh on the finish. I can taste the hops, the floral, all up in my palate. The floral just permeates and makes you salivate. Care to share your own hoppy nectar?

I kind of live in the middle of nowhere, so most of my beer consumption is either generics on tap or bottled beers I pile up when I feel like making the 30 mile drive to Whole Foods, but I still love me a good, biting IPA. [And I am completely and totally jealous of your Asheville connection. (I used to spend a lot of time in Greenville, SC, and made the occasional trip to Asheville for an awesome weekend.)]

I know it is a fairly wide-run bottled brew, but I'm always a sucker for a Dogfish Head 90 Minute IPA. Poured into a cold glass, it can be heaven on a hot southern day.

When I'm up in the home of my heart, Portland, Oregon, I'm also a big fan of the Imperial IPA.

Stone Brewery's Arrogant Bastard is a little different, but pretty good in its own right (or I think so), and is another find-it-in-Whole-Foods type bottled micro.

Of course, I am a total beer amateur, and basically will try anything set down in front of me, so I am always looking for suggestions, as well!

Lagunitas IPA. Best. Beer. Ever. If you can find it, buy it. If you like hops, you won't be disappointed.

I've seen Lagunitas at the Weaver Street Market in Hillsborough (Chapel Hill area). I'm not into IPAs, so I've never tried it.
