So I went on a bit of a rant to online friends and my poor patient roommate Angie about tracing as it applies to SCA scroll production. Like, the person in question claims they can't draw, yet they want to pursue an activity that almost requires that one draw. It would make sense they would want to learn to draw, right? No, they are practically married to their light pad. Tracing to me is a cheat -- it's great as a learning tool, but to consistently and regularly trace even the simplest clipart and get praised for it when other people are working hard to learn and reproduce the medieval art form... That's just wrong to me. Vented to my Laurel, who agrees, and who also advised me to just "do me" and not let it bother me. Good advice from the boss. ^__^

Other than that, it was a quiet week. Sketched out a practice piece for trying a new-to-me scribal painting style, did some Moonshop sketchery too (I'm thinking of trying out to be a shop artist XD), watched Wimbledon and footie and Formula 1 racing, gamed with friends online for the first time in forever (Mouse Guard is a lot of fun!). Pretty good week!

Geez was it hot last week. Hot and humid and gross. The thunderstorms only helped a little, and temporarily. This week promises more of the same. Ugh.

Today, I got an email from LJ to the effect that my LJ account had been logged into from 212.129.2.227, which is J. Random IP Address in France. Mysteriously, although this was some hours ago, I don't seem to have embarked on a spree of Viagra posts/comments or anything. Hence I've ended the unknown login session, changed password, deleted account (weirdly, all of which I could do without agreeing to the evil new T&Cs).

I imagine this is a manifestation of the downfall of LJ, but:
worth checking yourself (www.livejournal.com/manage/logins.bml ) if you ain't already deleted your account?
let me know, please, if I suddenly go spammy anywhere else...

So yeah, decompression happened, as did a whole lot of napping, as did the Fourth of July holiday. We went over to Angie's parents' house on the Fourth for grilling, which was yummy, then came home and Angie's boy Micah grilled for us on the shiny new grill he acquired for Angie. ^___^ Mmmm so much grilled meat. XD

Otherwise, apart from fireworks shenanigans by the neighbors, it was a quiet week. Didn't get much accomplished, per my agenda last week, but I think that's okay. ^__^

WeatherDork:
Currently at Bethlehem, PA at 10.16am: Mostly cloudy
Temp: 71F (feels like 71F)
Humidity: 68% (dewpoint 60F)
Pressure: 30.08"
Winds: NNW 5mph
Forecast: Partly sunny, slight chance of PM showers, high 85F, low 68F

It was warm and muggy last week, kinda gross actually. At least it wasn't as hot as it has been in the past, and it rained some which sort of helped. Sunday was downright glorious even. This week promises to be more of the same, with highs in the mid to upper 80s and potential for thunderstorms until a cooling trend hits toward the end of the week. WHEE SUMMER.

So much for getting any scribal stuff done last week. Gonna make up for it this week! CANNOT LOSE MOMENTUM.
